The parents of TGD young people are socially vulnerable in that their children and their parenting are under the spotlight of public opinion, much of it negative, and they have a shared need for both information and support. Many have lost friends and family contact as a result of supporting their children's needs.

Our view is that your role as a parent of a gender diverse child is to be your child's first and greatest ally - but we are compassionate and understanding that parents may struggle with this.  

Find other parents in Newcastle and surrounding areas - we are available to chat by phone or over a coffee, to reassure and provide information about lived experience.   Some of our children have met and gained friendships through these connections.  Parents become comfortable to share their own child's experiences in educational, health, social and legal settings. We maintain your family confidentiality with a strict respect for privacy and with respect for where other families are up to.
